Philosophy of the communal plot
Mood:  lucky
The whole purpose of creating a community garden is to link people together from diverse backgrounds in order to share their different cultural or environmental experiences and in the process, gain a greater understanding of our broad community and how we are all interconnected.
Being a shared experience, it is envisaged that everyone who contributes in the garden's upkeep is welcome to a share of the seasonal crop harvests.
The community is invited to make contributitions in all aspects of decision making as everyone's input has been vital to ensuring the project could bud at the outset.
Again we are all really excited that it is showing promising signs of new growth already, so take the time to ponder for a moment and see what is possible when communities work together.
Peace

The Communal Plot is an initiative made by local residents to turn unused or overgrown patches of public space into flourishing, breathing garden beds that have an enormous amount of positivity for everyone involved, as well as contributing to the vibrancy of the flora and fauna in the local neighbourhood.
After pondering for many years what to do with the overgrown block adjoining my rental property I finally bumped into the right person at the right time.
As I was walking down the street one sunny afternoon, I crossed paths with a member of our local sustainability group and we started chatting about one of our favorite subjects, the environment.   I had already been pondering about growing a garden but I knew I didn't want it to be a an individual effort.  So I mentioned the idea of a Community Garden.
It just so happened that the sustainability team were looking for a plot to start a community bed too and had been for some time.  They have some key people with vast experience on community gardening, so together we were very excited to be finally sharing our views.
What follows is the budding stages of what we hope will grow into a lush garden.  It is starting in humble beginnings but already the enthusiasm of the team is growing just like our new herb garden.
Most importantly for me, the garden is emerging from that one naturally occurring conversation.
